'Nam Ou' is O

Ominous skies and silky waters on the Nam Ou River in Laos.

There was the boat to Nong Kiaw - yes! We left at 8:30 and had an excellent journey. It wasn’t a busy boat with just a couple of mothers with children and one fashionable monk wearing his orange costume but adding some ’street style’ with a stereo, Kojak sunglasses and smoking! Not exactly how I imagined monks to be living! Read more at Yabbox

plus: I like the silvery reflections in the water and the tranquil feel minus: the dark shadows on the boats both on the right and left are distracting and it’s a pity that the lighting was not better. Plus-Minus Comment group)

plus: very beautiful moment and very well exposed (which was probably difficult against the light!) minus: I would crop it a bit. the very foreground does not really contribute but reduces the tension.

plus: I consider this to be a classic shot for multiple reasons: the front end pointed tip of the boat on the left leads the eye to the rest of the contents. B&W is a good choice in this case given the contrasts and light incident upon the lens. minus: I would try to play down the brightness of the reflected light from foreground water. Overall, a lovely shot. Got to see something as classy after a while here. (from the Plus-Minus Comment group)
